All services include a daily batch of photos and a short video or two from our time together, sent by text or email near the end of each service period or shortly afterward.

home-based overnight pet care

Focused, reliable, and experienced care designed to preserve your dog’s familiar home routine while you’re away. Services include either a series of thoughtfully spaced visits throughout the day or an overnight caregiver stay in your home. For overnight stays, I can provide my own air mattress, bedding, and bath towel if needed.

at-home overnight care – four daily visits

• Four 30-minute visits spaced throughout the day, typically morning through evening.
• ​This flexible option works especially well for dogs who are most comfortable remaining in their own home environment—such as seniors, special-needs pets, low-maintenance companions, or dogs who experience anxiety in busy boarding or social settings.

• Visit frequency and duration can be adjusted depending on your dog’s needs.

at-home overnight care – caregiver sleepover

• Features an overnight stay in your home, at minimum 10:00pm to 9:00am
• In practice, the stay often begins earlier in the evening and extends later into the following morning. The listed hours above represent the absolute minimum guaranteed overnight coverage.
• This option provides the reassurance of an experienced caregiver present overnight for dogs who benefit from added companionship, stability, and attentive supervision.
• Additional daytime visits may be added to maintain your dog’s usual routine.

This service is offered primarily in and around Kingston—farther locations are possible, but may incur a distance-based travel fee. Brisk, leashed, solo or sibling strolls down quiet residential blocks, through livelier business districts when possible, and through various local parks and green spaces: Senate House State Park, Academy Green Park, Forsyth Park, the Rondout Waterfront, Kingston Point Park, and the like. All walks are customizable per your needs and instruction.

guided small-group pack hikes

Gray Shepherd's leashed hiking service welcomes dogs of all breeds, sizes, and nonaggressive temperaments for small-group trips to local mountain trails, state parks, and in-city rail trails. For this service, I offer pickup and dropoff transportation via SUV outfitted with premium Mighty Paw® dog seat belts, and an approximately three-hour hiking trip with up to three other dogs in mapped areas adjacent to Kingston, such as Kaaterskill Falls, the Ashokan Reservoir, and the 27-mile O&W Rail Trail, which traverses the Rondout Valley and begins directly adjacent to Gray Shepherd headquarters at Dutch Village apartments on Washington Avenue. Leash-free handling is available on a case-by-case basis pending evaluation.
